U.S. moving towards dictatorship?
I don’t usually post things like this and I hope this doesn’t become a habit. But I heard about it yesterday and thought others might be interested.
According to WorldNetDaily, President Bush signed an Executive Order back on May 9 (without telling anyone) that gives the Office of the President the power to take over the government in case of national emergency. From the article: “Translated into layman’s terms, when the president determines a national emergency has occurred, the president can declare to the office of the presidency powers usually assumed by dictators to direct any and all government and business activities until the emergency is declared over.”
If this is really true, this scares me. Sadly, I also wouldn’t put it past our current administration. Many changes have occurred in the military lately with many high ranking officers leaving or being forced out because they still take their oath to defend the country “against all enemies, foreign and domestic” seriously, therefore they can’t stand working under the current administration. Several of my military colleagues are worried about what the administration is doing to the country and to the military and are getting out as soon as they can.
I’d like to voice my personal views on political matters but I don’t feel it’s wise while I’m still in the Navy, especially with the censoring monitoring by the Army of the Iraq soldiers’ emails and blogs. So I’ll just leave you with the link to the article and see what others have to say.
I’ve been worrying like mad for a while now that we won’t be electing a new President in 2008.
This sounds like a scary step in that direction.
