Computers by crystalattice @ 7:36 am on May 14, 2007.
It continues to amaze me that people aren’t willing to try new things. Whether it’s food, books, movies, or software, people stick with the tried and true. My wife’s friend refuses to try any ethnic food besides Mexican and Chinese; we’ve offered to take her to Greek, Thai, Indian, Japanese, etc. but she’s afraid she won’t like it so she doesn’t want to go.
However, the biggest gripe I have is when it comes to computers. I understand that people are “brought up” using Windows (home, work, school, et al.) so they are comfortable with it. It just kills me when people bitch about Macs, saying that they suck yet they’ve never used one; if they have, it’s been for five minutes at an Apple store. > more <

For those who aren’t aware, I have another site (http://cmrpg.sourceforge.net) where I’m working on an online role playing game. I haven’t worked on it for a while because I’m working towards a Master’s degree so homework can be a bear, plus I do have a life (unlike other computer geeks I know).
When I get around to it, I’ll set up links between this site and the game site. However, the last time I tried editing it I kept getting an “invalid login” error, even though I haven’t changed anything. And I’m getting tired of having to use SSH to login (which could be part of the problem). So I might be moving my site (yet again) to a different host. I like the tools Sourceforge provides but sometimes I’d like to have a little easier control of it. > more <

So, welcome to Common Sense v2.0. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while, mostly because I’ve been reading that it can help when it comes time to look for a job. Since I plan on leaving the Navy next year, every little bit will help.
If you want to learn a little more about me, take a look at my bio. If you’re wondering about the title, it’s based off the booklet Common Sense by Thomas Paine. Though his was a critique of government, mine won’t be (at least, not often). Most of my posts will probably be tech-oriented though I’m sure some of my other thoughts will leak out at times. But that’s okay, because I hope it helps add to the common sense pool. There doesn’t seem to be enough out there anymore.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope you’ll enjoy visiting. Thanks, and see ya.
