Taboo topics for politicians

A friend sent this to me and I found it interesting and amusing. 10ZenMonkeys has an article entitled “Don’t Go There: Top 20 Taboo Topics for Presidential Candidates” and it’s quite enlightening.

It’s a sad state of affairs in American when we can have candidates, much less people in office, who will actually take a stand for something. It’s like having room temperature water: not everyone will be happy with it but it won’t upset the vast majority of people.

Personally, I think it would be fun to run for office just so I could participate in the debates. Even though I’d have no chance at all to get elected, it would be great to actually speak my mind. It would be even funner (is that a word?) to be on stage and say something like, “Ya know what, man? You’re a complete prat.”

Actually, Ronald Reagan did something like that back in the day (the whole “Well, there you go again” thing) and people loved him for it. Maybe I could get elected…
