After having some problems with people having issues about my blog, I have deleted several posts that are causing or could cause issues, particularly at work. I won’t delete this blog totally because of the vast number of people who have something to say about Hawaii. This is the number 1 place to discuss it, apparently.
But, in the interest of saving myself harm or discomfort, I have decided to remove the material in question and won’t be posting here for a while. Perhaps in a few years I’ll get back into it. We will see.

First, I want to apologize to everyone who has submitted comments to the site for the last few weeks. Something happened with my email system and the notices that comments were made got sent to the spam box. I think so many comments were made in a short amount of time that the system thought it was a legitimate spam bot. I have approved all the comments and they should now be visible for reading, so don’t think I just deleted them because I didn’t like what you said.
I want to mention that I’m moving yet again, this time back to Japan. I lived there once but it wasn’t nearly long enough so now I get to go back and enjoy it some more, especially now that I know what to do and where to go.
My programming book is coming along nicely. I’m nearly done with my editing and conversion. If you are interested, take a look at http://python-ebook.blogspot.com. I hope to have the ebook version posted in a few months. I will also be seeing if I can find a publisher for it, since I’ve had a few people ask about getting a physical copy.
That’s about it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it back safely from Iraq. I know that disappoints a lot of the Hawaiians who read the “Hawaii Sucks” post; I received several death threats while I was over there. Glad I disappointed you.
I’m still working on my Python programming ebook. It’s just taking a bit longer since I didn’t have a lot of time in the last month to work on it. I don’t expect to work on it until after New Year’s, so it will be a little bit longer until it’s done.
Other than that, I’m glad to be back home. Iraq is an interesting place and I’m glad I went there vs. Afghanistan, at least from talking to the people who came back from there. Apparently I lived the good life.
That’s all for now.

In case you haven’t noticed, I added two new widgets to this site’s sidebar. I finally realized that I can add regular RSS feeds to the sidebar, so I’m testing to see if these widgets actually work. They’re acting finicky so I don’t know if I’ll keep them up. The feeds don’t seem to be updating like they’re supposed to.
If it does work, now you can see all my latest Epinion.com reviews. It only lists the most recent 10 reviews but you can always visit my profile at Epinions to see the rest. This is nothing special; just thought it might be interesting for some people, especially those who aren’t aware of the Epinions site.
The second widget is for interesting articles I find via my Google Reader RSS feeds. Some are weird, some are funny, but they are all interesting to me, though they may not warrant enough mention for me to post an article about them.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my blog posts may be few and far between for the next few weeks. I had foot surgery on May 31 and so I’m not moving around too much. I’m spending most of my time in bed with my foot elevated and sleeping (narcotics are great
).
I do have a laptop but the PC Card slot is broken so I have to hook it up to my router via Ethernet, which is downstairs along with my Mac. So, I currently have to make a trip to use my computer which obviously doesn’t happen too often.
I’m going to see about getting a USB wireless adapter and see if that will work upstairs. If so, I’ll be able post updates and get some homework done. While I’m on the subject, does anyone have any recommendations for USB wireless adapters under $70?

So, welcome to Common Sense v2.0. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while, mostly because I’ve been reading that it can help when it comes time to look for a job. Since I plan on leaving the Navy next year, every little bit will help.
If you want to learn a little more about me, take a look at my bio. If you’re wondering about the title, it’s based off the booklet Common Sense by Thomas Paine. Though his was a critique of government, mine won’t be (at least, not often). Most of my posts will probably be tech-oriented though I’m sure some of my other thoughts will leak out at times. But that’s okay, because I hope it helps add to the common sense pool. There doesn’t seem to be enough out there anymore.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope you’ll enjoy visiting. Thanks, and see ya.
