This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a while but every time I’m at a computer, I don’t think about it. So now it’s time to remedy that.
I’ve known for a while that I didn’t fit neatly into our current political system because I like certain aspects of the Republicans (like 2nd Amendment rights and their stand against illegal immigration) but I hate other aspects (like their pro-life agenda and the idea of being the world’s police). However, I also like some of the Democrats ideas (like universal health care and pro-choice) but I hate other things (like the perpetual welfare system and giving illegal immigrants Constitutional rights).
It would be nice to have more parties to choose from like other countries. The way the current political system is set up, third party candidates don’t have a fair chance at breaking the system. Sometimes they can do it in local elections, rarely at a federal level, and never at the Presidential level.
For those who haven’t seen this before, the World’s Smallest Political Quiz was created to show people in 10 questions where exactly they stand in the American political system. It’s a good way to actually see where your beliefs put you in regards to the political parties. It’s very enlightening and many people I’ve told about it find out they aren’t really in the political camp they thought they were. I took this quiz back in college and found out why I’m dissatisfied with our two party system.
Even if it doesn’t change your political party or who you vote for, hopefully you’ll see that many issues aren’t as clear-cut as politicians would have us believe.
Only ten questions to determine affiliation. Hmmm. Sort of like one of those folded up paper things the girls used to make in grade school.
No suprisingly, it turns out I’m a Liberal bordering on Libertarian.
Perhaps the “magic-8-ball” works. ๐
The red dot on my little score-map was at the extreme North. Is this bad? ๐ฆ
I took the quiz and this is how I scored:
It’s pretty accurate! ๐
Well, I happen to be a left-leaning Libertarian, which is also pretty accurate. For 10 questions, is seems to be pretty darn good.
