Ph.D. progress

I know it’s been a while since I posted, but since the only traffic this blog seems to get is from my post about Hawaii, it doesn’t seem like much of a point to update regularly.

But, since I’m bored, I figured I’d make a short post about my Ph.D. classes. I’m halfway done w/ the required classes. I only have my electives and 2 required classes left. I should be starting on the dissertation next year.

I just completed one class that provided a template for the dissertation writeup. I think there’s enough information there that writing the proposal and the rough draft of the dissertation itself shouldn’t be too difficult. Of course, conducting the research and analyzing it will be the difficult part. But I’m having fun and that’s important. Otherwise I don’t think I’d be willing to finish.

The hardest parts of attaining the PhD is writing the thesis and defending it. Before you reach that stage, you obviously have to take all the courses, and in some cases, take a written exam on all subjects. Been there, done that. If you’re focused and don’t have writer’s block, you’ll get through it. Keep pushing. Good luck. When you get the degree, I’ll welcome you to the Piled Hire and Deeper club, atop Hawaii’s Ala Moana Tower. Lol.
